Downstate man sentenced in Chippewa County meth case

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— A Traverse City man will spend up to 40 years in prison for selling meth in the Kinross area.

Chippewa County Prosecutor Rob Stratton says Kenneth Mathes, Jr., 37, was sentenced this week on one count of delivery of meth and two counts of conspiracy to deliver meth. Mathes also had a drug double enhancement which doubled the statutory maximum to 40 years.

A jury found him guilty on all three counts in October.

Mathes’ codefendant, Sarah Harrison, was sentenced to up to 20 years in prison in November.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
