One killed in AuTrain Township snowmobile accident

AuTRAIN TOWNSHIP, MI— An Ohio man has died in an Alger County snowmobile crash.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Friday around 8:25 p.m. to Trail #8 near Forest Lake Road in AuTrain Township.

Investigation revealed the 33-year-old driver was eastbound when he failed to negotiate a curve. He lost control of the machine, was ejected and hit a tree.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say excessive speed was the only contributing factor in the accident.

Alger County EMS and Alger County Rescue 21 assisted at the scene.
