IRON COUNTY, MICH. – One man is dead following a single vehicle crash in Iron County in which the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. State Police from the Iron Mountain post responded yesterday (Thursday) at about 8:30pm to a report from another motorist about the crash on Channing Road in Mansfield Township. The motorist pulled the driver from the burning vehicle while first responders were enroute to the scene. The driver, a 60-year-old Michigan resident, was transported by EMS to the UP Heath Systems in Marquette, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Michigan State Police Troopers were assisted by the Iron County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Sagola Fire Department and Crystal Falls Fire Department.
