Two injured in 2-vehicle accident in roundabout near Wal-Mart

Marquette, MI - Two people are injured following a 2-vehicle accident in Marquette Township. Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched Thursday at about 7:42pm to US-41 West near County Road HQ near Wal-Mart to the scene of a two-vehicle accident. Troopers say a 25-year old Ishpeming woman driving a Ford F-150 and a 92-year old Marquette man driving a Cadillac SRX collided in the roundabout. The Cadillac went off the road and into the eastbound ditch. The driver of the Cadillac and his 96-year old female passenger were taken to UPHS-Marquette where the passenger is being treated for serious injuries. Troopers say the driver appears to be in stable condition. The driver of the Ford and its passenger were uninjured.

Troopers say drugs appear to be a factor in the accident and a criminal investigation is underway.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Michigan State Police, Marquette Township Fire, Marquette Township EMS, UPHS Marquette EMS, and Marquette Detailing.
