Woman injured in Schoolcraft County motorcycle accident

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A Kentucky woman is hospitalized, following a motorcycle accident in Schoolcraft County.

State Police from the Manistique Detachment say the crash happened Wednesday around 10:35 a.m. on US-2 in Manistique Township.  They say Margerite Webster, 54, of Glencoe, Kentucky was westbound when she hit the back of a motorcycle being driven by a 65-year-old Ohio resident.  The two were riding in a group.  Both lost control of their bikes and Webster was thrown from hers.  Neither rider was wearing a helmet.

Webster was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Marquette General Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.  The Ohio driver was treated at Schoolcraft Memorial and released.

Troopers say neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the accident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
