Gogebic County man killed in deer/motorcycle crash

BERGLAND TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Marenisco man has been killed in a motorcycle accident in Ontonagon County.

Troopers from the Wakefield Post say the crash happened Monday on M-28 near Sandy Beach Road in Bergland Township.  They say Charles Evans, 73, was westbound when a deer entered the roadway.  Evans hit the deer and was thrown from the motorcycle.  He was not wearing a helmet and received severe head injuries.

Evans was taken to Grandview Aspirus Hospital, then transferred by helicopter to Wausau, Wisconsin, where he was pronounced dead.    

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
