Accident injures Calumet teen

CALUMET, MI--   A Houghton County teen is hospitalized, following a two-vehicle crash in Calumet.

State Police from the Calumet Post say the accident happened Monday around noon on US-41 just south of Airport Road.  Troopers say a 66-year-old Houghton man towing a fifth-wheel trailer was making a left turn when he was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Calumet male.  The car became pinned underneath the trailer and the teen had to be extricated from his vehicle.  He was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

No names have yet been released.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
