Boy falls from cliff at Presque Isle Park

MARQUETTE, MI--   A 6-year-old boy is injured, after he fell from a 20-foot cliff at Presque Isle Park in Marquette.

City Police say Tuesday around 5:20 p.m. a father and son were biking from Sunset Point to the old deer cage area when a blue and white utility truck going the wrong way on the one-way road headed toward them.  As the two pulled to the side to let the truck pass the 6-year-old’s bicycle hit some brush, which forced him off the road and over the cliff.  The boy landed on the shoreline about three feet from the water’s edge.

The 6-year-old was taken to Marquette General Hospital with back pain and a cut to his right wrist.

Police are trying to locate and identify the driver of the blue and while utility truck.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
