Marquette man arrested for hitting pedestrian with his truck

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Marquette man has been arrested, after he struck another man with his truck.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post say the incident happened Sunday around 4:15 a.m. at a residence on Longyear Drive in Negaunee Township.  The 23-year-old suspect had driven there to speak with a 37-year-old Marquette man about an altercation they’d had earlier in the evening.

Troopers say another argument ensued.  The suspect was driving from the scene when his pickup collided with the man with whom he’d just been arguing.  The suspect then drove to the Negaunee State Police Post to report the incident.  He was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The victim was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of foot and leg injuries.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
