Names released in ORV crash

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, MI--   Police have released the names of the individuals involved in a Jeep-ORV crash in Ishpeming Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened Sunday around 4:45 p.m. on Deer Lake Road, about four miles north of County Road GM.

Deputies say 17-year-old Carl Anderson of Ishpeming was northbound when he tried to pass another ORV on a curve and hit a southbound Jeep driven by 39-year-old Christopher Magnuson of Marquette head-on.

Anderson sustained serious injuries and was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment.

Officials say he was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
