Moose hit and killed in Delta County

PERKINS, MI--   Police say a moose died after it was struck by a semi-truck in Delta County.

Michigan State Police say the bull moose crossed into the truck's path Monday on St. Nicholas Road north of Perkins.  The moose then made its way into the woods, where it was found dead by a Department of Natural Resources officer.

Police say the driver of the semi-truck—a 73-year-old Brampton man—wasn't hurt.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
