Four-vehicle crash in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING, MI--   Three people are injured, following a four-vehicle accident in Ishpeming.

City Police say the crash happened Wednesday at 4:46 p.m. at the intersection of US-41 and Lakeshore Drive.  A 61-year-old Ishpeming man was northbound on Lakeshore in a Mazda sedan when a Buick LeSabre

westbound on 41 ran a red light and hit the Mazda.  The Buick was driven by a 24-year-old South Range woman.

The force of the impact drove the Buick into an Impala stopped at the intersection.  The Impala was then forced backward into a Dodge Avenger.  Three of the four vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Three people were taken to Bell Hospital for treatment of their injuries.  Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
