AMASA, MI-- An Illinois man has died in a snowmobile accident in Iron County.
The Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened Thursday around 1:10 p.m. off of Trail 18 on the DNR Road in Amasa.
Deputies say the 54-year-old man from Mokena, Illinois suffered fatal injuries after his sled left the trail and struck a tree.
Excess speed appears to be a factor in the accident.
DNR conservation officers assisted at the scene.
