Snow to blame for Sands accident

SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI--   Wintry conditions contributed to a two-vehicle accident in Sands Township Friday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened around 5:46 p.m. on M-553.  A GMC pickup was preparing to turn into 553 Mobile Estates from the southbound lane when he was rear-ended by an Oldsmobile sedan.  Neither driver was injured, but a dog was a treated at the scene.

Deputies say other cars went into the ditch trying to avoid the accident.  Icy and snow-covered roads contributed to the crash.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
