19-year-old injured in Houghton County crash

OSCEOLA TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Houghton County woman is hospitalized, following a two-vehicle accident in Osceola Township.

Sheriff’s deputies say the accident happened Saturday around 3:45 p.m. on M-26 near Woodside Location.

They say Stephanie Trezona, 19, of Hubbell was westbound when she lost control on the slushy roadway.  Her vehicle slid sideways into the path of a pickup truck driven by Ivan Tolley, 77, of Dollar Bay.

Trezona had to be extricated from her vehicle.  She and her two passengers were taken to Portage Health for treatment.  Trezona was later transported to Marquette General Hospital.  Tolley was not injured.

Deputies say Trezona was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
