Marquette building hit by vehicle

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette business is damaged, after a vehicle slammed into it Wednesday.

City Police say the accident happened around 5:30 p.m. at Family Video on West Washington Street.

Investigation reveals a 54-year-old Illinois man hit the accelerator instead of the brake and struck the block wall of the building.  Neither he nor his passenger was injured.  A family video employee received minor injuries from being struck by the counter.

Police say neither drugs nor alcohol was involved.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
