Soo man killed in crash

DAFTER TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Sault Ste. Marie man has been killed in a single-vehicle accident in Chippewa County.

State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post say the crash happened Friday on Mackinac Trail near  12 Mile Road in Dafter Township.

Investigation revealed James Thompson, 30, lost control of his vehicle, which left the roadway, struck several trees, and rolled over.

Thompson was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.  He died of his injuries.

Troopers believe speed was a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
