Alger County crash claims elderly Grand Marais couple

Burt Township, MI -  A two vehicle crash in Alger County has left an elderly couple dead.

State police say the accident happened yesterday (Thursday) at about 2:30pm H-58 near the Adams Trail in Burt Township.  

  Eighty-three-year old Robert Pine and 79-year old Lucy Pine, both of Grand Marais, were northbound on H-58 when their vehicle crossed the centerline and struck head-on a D-N-R dump truck.

Both Robert and Lucy Pine died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the dump truck, 35-year old Scott Lakosky of Manistique, was not injured. The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Pictured Rocks Park Rnagers, M-S-P accident investigators and reconstructionist, Munising Township Fire Dept., and the Alger County Ambulance and Extrication unit.
