Hunter pulled out of Escanaba River

ESCANABA, MI--   A downstate man has been rescued from the Escanaba River after he fell in while hunting.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Office says the 26-year-old Melvin man was hunting geese Tuesday when his canoe flipped over and dumped him into the water.  Residents spotted the hunter, who couldn’t get out of the river because of ice.  Authorities pulled him out around 2:45 p.m.

The man was taken to St. Francis Hospital, treated for hypothermia and released.
