MARQUETTE, MI--   The Northern Michigan University community is expressing its condolences to the family of a Big Bay woman killed by a possible hit and run driver in Powell Township.

NMU Senior Associate Vice President of Finance and Administration Art Gischia says the University received word Tuesday that the victim was Robin Rahoi, 54, NMU's registered dietician.  Rahoi began working at NMU in July of 2003.

A passing motorist found Rahoi's body along Lighthouse Road Tuesday morning.  Michigan State Police are conducting a scene reconstruction in an effort to identify the circumstances of the incident.

Public Radio 90 will release further details as they become available.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
