Evidence in Dollar death points to accident, police say

Shawn Dollar

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette Police Department says it can't find any evidence of a crime in the death of 34-year-old resident Shawn Dollar last year.

Dollar's body was found September 14, 2012, in a vacant building at 231 West Washington Street.  Authorities say he died of head trauma and called the death "suspicious".

Police now say after a year of investigating leads, conducting numerous interviews and working with other agencies they have found no evidence of a criminal act that caused Dollar's death.  They believe his injuries were likely caused by an accidental fall.

Officials say the investigation remains open and they will continue to follow up on any leads or information received about the case.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
