Identity of injured snowmobiler released

MARQUETTE, MI--   Officials have released the name of a snowmobiler injured in a Wells Township accident last week.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened Friday at 1:53 p.m. on Trail 33, two miles east of County Road SY.

Deputies say Thomas Lynch, 63, of Gladstone was eastbound when the left ski hit a large dip in the trail.  Lynch was thrown from the vehicle, which was damaged.  He was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The Department of Natural Resources has flagged that area of the trail to prevent further accidents.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
