Sault Ste Marie man killed in snowmobile accident

Bruce Township, MI - A Sault Ste. Marie man is dead following a snowmobiling accident. Troopers from the Sault Ste Marie post say the accident happened Saturday on ‘8 Mile Road’ just east of M-129 in Bruce Township.

Sixty-one year old Ronald Kelly was part of a group of 4-snowmobilers traveling east on ‘8 Mile Road’ when the group came to an unplowed portion of seasonal road. Kelly ran into the snowbank, was ejected from his machine and struck a tree.

He was taken to War Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

State Police say speed and alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
