MARQUETTE, MI--   Two people were injured in an accident with a logging truck on Wright Street Thursday.

Sheriff’s deputies say a Kia Sorento was northbound around 3:15 p.m. when the driver lost control.  A

southbound logging truck driven by David Kari, 67, of Ishpeming tried to avoid a crash but jackknifed, and the driver’s side of the Kia struck the driver’s side of the truck.

The driver of the Kia—18-year-old Kendra Kemp of Williamston—and her 19-year-old passenger from Houghton were taken to Marquette General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kari was not injured.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
