Snow, zero visibility cause 20-vehicle accident in Mackinac County

MACKINAC COUNTY, MI--   The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a multi-vehicle crash on US-2.

Deputies say at least 20 vehicles were involved in the accident, which reportedly happened between 10 and 11 a.m. Friday before the highway was shut down due to whiteout conditions.

Officials needed four-wheel-drive vehicles and a snowmobile to get to the scene of the crash.  Only minor injuries have been reported.

The stretch of US-2 between St. Ignace and M-77 remains closed Friday evening due to heavy snow and blowing snow.  Police are asking motorists to stay off the roads.
