Car hits train in Dickinson County

QUINNESEC, MI--   State Police from the Iron Mountain Post are investigating a car-train crash in Quinnesec.  

Troopers say the accident happened Wednesday around 2:15 p.m. on Lake Street.  The driver was reportedly northbound on Lake when they saw the train approaching at the last second.  The driver was unable to stop before the vehicle entered the railroad crossing and collided with the train. 

The driver and three passengers were not injured in the crash. 

The driver was cited for speeding.  His or her name will not be released because the driver is a minor. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
