Names in fatal Delta County ORV accident released

BRAMPTON TOWNSHIP, MI--   Authorities say a 12-year-old boy is dead after a four-wheeler he was riding on collided with a semi-truck in Delta County Sunday.

Sheriff’s deputies say the accident happened on M-35 near 26th Lane around 5:10 p.m.

Wesley James Rein of Brampton was a passenger on the four-wheeler.  It was crossing the highway in Brampton Township when it struck a semi tractor-trailer driven by Scott Schwittay, 48, of Wisconsin.

Rein was pronounced dead at the scene.  The operator of the four-wheeler—a 15-year-old Brampton resident—was treated at St. Francis Hospital and released.

The crash remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
