Names released in Hyde traffic fatality

HYDE, MI--   Police have released the names of those involved in a fatal traffic crash Monday on US-2/41 in Delta County.

Sheriff’s deputies say Edward Paquin, 83, of Spaulding was eastbound around

2 p.m. near Hyde when his pickup truck crossed the centerline.  It struck a westbound motor home driven by Arnold Parson, 69, of Daggett.  A vehicle being towed behind the camper was apparently hit by a third vehicle driven by Anthony VanDamme, 59, of Rock.

Paquin was pronounced dead at the scene.  Parson and his wife Shirlene were taken to St. Francis Hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.  VanDamme was not injured.

The highway was closed for four hours while officials cleared the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
