Pedestrian killed by minivan in Marquette Township

UPDATE, 9:39 am --  The Marquette County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim as Paul Cox, 55, of Plains, Kansas.  The driver of the minivan is Vickie Kinnunen, 43, of Gwinn.

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Kansas man was struck and killed by a vehicle as he tried to cross US-41 in Marquette Township Saturday night.  

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office says around 8 p.m. the 55-year-old man was walking with a group of people from the Cedar Motor Inn to Buffalo Wild Wings when he was struck by an eastbound minivan driven by a 43-year-old Gwinn woman. 

Neither the driver nor her passengers were injured. 

The accident remains under investigation. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
