Woman seriously injured in two-vehicle crash identified

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Officials have released the names of those involved in a Marquette Township accident that critically injured one person over the weekend.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says Sherry Wolak, 62, of Crystal Falls was exiting the Lowe’s access road Saturday afternoon when she pulled in front of a westbound pickup driven by Leah Arvon, 38, of Ishpeming.

Wolak was admitted to U.P. Health System Marquette and remains in critical condition.  Her passenger was treated and released.  Arvon was not injured.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
