Four vehicles collide in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   No serious injuries are reported in two, two-vehicle crashes in Marquette Township over the weekend.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post were dispatched Sunday around 11:35 a.m. to US-41 and County Road HQ to investigate accidents involving four vehicles.

They say Michael Wunder, 23, of Marquette was westbound on 41 when he tried to turn left into the Wal-Mart parking lot.  He was struck by an eastbound truck driven by John Wiggers, 43, of White Cloud, Michigan.

At the same time, Curtis Noel, 51 of Marquette was eastbound when he tried to avoid a collision with Wiggers’ pickup and hit a vehicle driven by Jaycie Welland, 35, of Gwinn.

Welland was the only one who reported possible injury and sought her own treatment.

Wunder was cited for failure to yield.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
