Rollover crash on CR 553

SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Texas woman escaped serious injury after her car rolled down an embankment in Sands Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened Thursday around 9:10 a.m. on M-553 just about a mile north of Stonegate Heights.

They say Jennifer McCormick, 45, of Lewisville, Texas was northbound when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a snow bank on the right side of the road.  The vehicle became airborne, then rolled over down an embankment and came to rest in a ditch on the driver’s side.

A passerby who witnessed the accident climbed into the vehicle and found McCormick uninjured.

McCormick was found to be at fault in the crash.

The Sands Township Fire/EMS unit, Marquette Township Fire/Rescue, and MSP Hometown Security Team assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
