Snowmobile driver hit by car in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING, MI--   A downstate man is in serious condition after his snowmobile was hit by a vehicle in Ishpeming. 

City Police say Sunday around 5:30 p.m. Michael Hogan, 34, of Oakland was last in a group of three snowmobiles crossing US-41 at the intersection of Lakeshore Drive.  Witnesses say a Ford Focus driven by Eva Goodreau, 71, of Greenland ran a red light and hit Hogan’s machine.

Hogan was taken to U.P. Health System Marquette for treatment, where he remains. 

The accident remains under investigation and will be reviewed by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office when it’s complete. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
