Marquette motorcyclist injured in crash

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Marquette man was injured in a car-motorcycle accident in Marquette Township Wednesday.

Sheriff’s deputies say the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on County Road 550 just south of Harlow Lake Road.  They say 25-year-old Stephen Lemerond of Marquette had stopped his Mercury Grand Marquis on the side of the road.  When he tried to make a U-turn he pulled into the path of a motorcycle driven by 23-year-old Kyle Bloch of Marquette.  Bloch swerved but hit the car’s left front quarter panel, then slid onto the western shoulder of the highway.

Bloch was taken to U.P. Health System Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Lemerond was at fault for failure to yield the right-of-way.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
