Pickup crashes into semi in Marquette County

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, MI--   Several gallons of diesel fuel were spilled after a semi tractor-trailer and pickup truck collided in Ishpeming Township.

Sheriff’s deputies say Tuesday around 5:15 p.m. a semi driven by David Spooner, 35, of Iron Mountain was eastbound on US-41 when it attempted to turn right onto Northlake Road.  It failed to yield to an eastbound truck driven by Antonio Gravedoni, 19, of Negaunee.  The pickup crashed into the side of the semi, rupturing a fuel tank and spilling a large amount of fuel.

The pickup was totaled, but only minor injuries were reported.

Spooner was cited for making an improper turn.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
