Two injured in accident near Germfask

GERMFASK TOWNSHIP, MI -  Two men are injured following a two-vehicle crash in Schoolcraft County. State Police were dispatched at about 3:15pm Sunday to M-77 near Robinson Road.

Troopers say a 2007 Dodge Nitro driven by 34-year old Stephen Powers of Mackinac City, was southbound on M-77 when he slowed to avoid hitting a dog in the roadway. He was rear-ended by 2008 Buick Enclave driven by 25-year old Joel Smith of downstate Wyoming. The impact of the crash sent Powers’ vehicle into the ditch.

Both men were taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Troopers add both vehicles were totalled… and the crash remains under investigation.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Germfastk Township fire and ambulance service.
