Mackinac County crash claims woman's life

HENDRICKS TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Engadine woman has died in a single-vehicle accident in Mackinac County.

Sheriff’s officials say it happened Monday around 11:45 a.m. on Cut River Road just east of Prater Road in Hendricks Township.  Marianne King, 48, was westbound when her vehicle crossed the centerline, went off the roadway, and hit a tree.  The accident was found soon afterwards by a passerby.  King was taken to Mackinac Straits Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officials say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation by deputies and the Michigan State Police.  They say King wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
