Man killed in Alger County accident

LIMESTONE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Rapid River man has died from injuries he received in a single-vehicle rollover accident in Alger County Friday morning.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post say Robin McClellan, 53, was northbound on US-41 near Diffin Road in Limestone Township when he lost control of his vehicle.  The Toyota RAV4 left the roadway and flipped over.

McClellan was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the SUV.  He was transported to UP Health System Marquette with a serious head injury and later died.

Troopers say although a rain-snow mix was falling and there was some slush on the roadway, it’s unclear if that contributed to the crash.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
