Snowmobile hits car in Bessemer Township

BESSEMER TOWNSHIP--   The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a crash involving a snowmobile and a car Friday night. 

The accident happened around 7:20 p.m. on US-2 near Powderhorn Road.  The snowmobile was northbound when the operator failed to yield to a car that was eastbound on the highway.  The operator was ejected from the snowmobile and suffered serious injuries.  They were taken to Aspirus Grandview Hospital, then airlifted to Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin. 

The driver of the car wasn’t injured. 

The accident remains under investigation.    

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
