Vehicles break through ice on Little Bay de Noc

GLADSTONE, MI--   Gladstone Public Safety is urging residents to be careful on Little Bay de Noc ice, following two break-through incidents Saturday night.

The Department and Delta County Search and Rescue responded to a report of a snowmobile that went through the ice just off the City Marina around 7:30 p.m.  There were no injuries and both subjects refused treatment.

At approximately 10 p.m. Gladstone Public Safety was called again with regards to a vehicle that broke through the ice near Butlers Island in Kipling.  Officers found that three different vehicles had fallen into the bay.  No injuries were reported and everyone was able to make it back to shore safely.

Officers say people who venture out onto the ice should use extra caution.  Recent warm temperatures have diminished ice conditions rapidly in certain areas.  They say areas that appeared to be okay when heading out on the ice may be open water when returning to land.
