ELY TOWNSHIP, MI-- A log spill closed a portion of US-41 in Ely Township early Wednesday morning.
Troopers from the Negaunee Post say the accident happened around 3:30 a.m. near County Road CKL. Skylar Schumacher, 20, of Baraga was westbound in a semi tractor-trailer loaded with saw logs when he lost control of the vehicle on the snowy road. The tractor-trailer left the roadway and spilled its load across the highway.
The logs were moved off the road and will be reloaded onto another vehicle later Wednesday.
Schumacher was cited for careless driving.
Troopers were assisted by the Marquette County Road Commission and the Ishpeming Township Police Department.
