Vehicle hits pedestrian in Calumet

CALUMET, MI--   A pedestrian was seriously injured after he was hit by a car in Calumet over the weekend. 

State Police say Saturday around 3:40 p.m. a 60-year-old Calumet man was driving north on US-41 near Union Street when a 48-year-old man from Calumet ran across the road and into traffic.  The driver attempted to avoid hitting the pedestrian but was unable to.  The vehicle hit the man and went into the ditch.

The pedestrian was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw with a possible head injury.  He was later transferred to Aspirus Wausau, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday morning.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
