Woman injured in Gladstone ORV crash

GLADSTONE, MI--   An Escanaba woman was injured in a 4-wheeler accident in Gladstone over the Memorial Day holiday.

Public Safety officers say the accident happened Monday around 1:45 p.m. in a wooded area near the water tower.

They say Justine Shervin, 45, of Escanaba was a passenger on an ORV driven by Brian Deiter, 45, of Gladstone.  As he attempted to maneuver down a hill the 4-wheeler’s tire got stuck in a rut, causing the machine to tip and Shervin to be thrown off.  The ORV then rolled onto Deiter.

Shervin was airlifted to UPHS Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  Deiter was not injured.

Both Shervin and Deiter were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
