Man hit by car in L'Anse Township identified

L'ANSE TOWNSHIP, MI-- Police have released the identity of the man who died after being run over by a car in L’Anse Township over the weekend.

Troopers from the Calumet Post say Charles Joseph Maki, 44, of L’Anse was lying on Second Sands Beach Road early Saturday morning when a vehicle struck him. Officials don’t know why he was on the roadway.

State Police continue to investigate the incident.
