Names of drowning victims released

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the victims who drowned at Little Presque Isle Saturday.  

Deputies say KaylilynTansey, 22, of Grand Ledge and Justin Schroepfer, 24, of Rhinelander died.  Abigail Sprinkle, 22, of Marquette was rescued from the water.

Nicholas Leach, 27, of Marquette and Emily Goodman, 24, of Marquette are credited with saving Sprinkle. 

The Sheriff’s Office is reminding people that the water temperature of Lake Superior is very cold and when the wind is blowing, currents and water conditions are unpredictable.  Hypothermia can set in very quickly.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
