Lend me a costume: Flood hits school drama program

ESCANABA, MI (AP)--   The show must go on next year at Escanaba High School, but not with costumes and props destroyed by water in a flooded basement.

There was probably 5 feet of water in the basement last week at the school, due to a faulty toilet and a pump failure. Principal DarciGriebel told the school board that most damage will be fixed by the start of school.

Nonetheless, retired musical director Lynn Soderberg says she looked at the basement and felt "like someone had torn a piece" of her heart. She says hundreds of costumes likely have been lost.

The Daily Press says an insurance claim will be filed.
