UPDATE, 8/1/16: The bicyclist has been identified as Dwayne Paul Kaukola, 41, of Ishpeming. The driver of the pickup was Matthew Isola, 29, of Champion. Isola was not injured in the accident.

ELY TOWNSHIP, MI-- A bicyclist has been hit and killed by a pickup truck in Marquette County’s Ely Township.
State Police from the Negaunee Post say the accident happened Sunday at 1:30 p.m. on US-41 near County Road CZ in the Greenwood location.
The victim was riding along the edge of the highway against the flow of traffic when they suddenly entered the roadway, into the path of the truck. The driver of the pickup was unable to avoid a collision. The bicyclist died at the scene.
Names will not be released until the victim’s family is notified.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
