Woman crashes vehicle in Baraga Township

BARAGA TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Baraga woman could face charges following a single-vehicle accident in Baraga Township.

Troopers from the Calumet Post say it happened Thursday around 1:20 a.m. on Baraga Plains Road near Mansfeldt Road.  A 47-year-old woman was southbound when she lost control of her vehicle.  The car hit several mailboxes before it left the road and struck a tree.  The driver was taken to Baraga County Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

State Police say it appears speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
