CHASSELL, MI--   Authorities are searching Lake Superior near the Keweenaw for three people who didn’t return after a fishing trip Saturday afternoon.

State Police from the Calumet Post say a 61-year-old Atlantic Mine man, accompanied by a 43-year-old Ishpeming man and his 9-year-old son, launched a 16-foot boat at Portage Entry in Chassell to go trout fishing.  Family members called police when they didn’t return for Saturday night plans.

Troopers say the group’s truck and trailer were still at the marina.

Crews from the U.S. and Canadian Coast Guards are searching by air, water, and land.

Anyone with information regarding the boaters is asked to call the Coast Guard Sector Sault Sainte Marie Command Center at 906-635-3233 or the Calumet Post at 906-337-2211.
