NAUBINWAY, MI-- A body found in Lake Michigan near Naubinway is believed to be that of a missing boater.
WLUC-TV reports last Thursday morning a pilot spotted what appeared to be a body on the shoreline. Deputies from the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office responded and recovered it.
The Charlevoix County Medical Examiner was notified, then the body was taken to Grand Rapids for an autopsy. Officials identified it as Gregory Froede, 39, of Harbor Springs, who was reported missing September 16 after he jumped off a boat near Beaver Island around 2 a.m. Police believe alcohol was a factor in the incident.
Investigation into the incident continues.
